Can You Discover True Leadership Education.

October 26, 2009 by Simon Haggard

Last  month while Nyssa and I were in Puerto Rico we attended an inspirational conference. This was a three day event centered around the Positive Media and Personal Development industries. This conference, just like many others we host around the world, is a setting to learn from some of the most amazing speakers, individuals, authors, entrepreneurs and guru’s in existence today. This is what I do! I work with people with ambition, such as yourself, show ways to wealth creation, building confidence and how to achieve sucess through these events. It’s a 19 Billion $ industry and we had access to three top notch speakers. I was able to meet and listen to them while at one of these conferences in Puerto Rico.

All three of these individuals inspired me with their stories and for me, life is all about your story. As you progress through your life, what story are you going to be able to share with your Grandchildren?

Is it going to be a story of success? Passion? Excitement? Adventure? Accomplishment?

Or

Is it going to be a story of wishing? Failure? Mediocrity? Misery?

The choice really is yours and the start of your story isn’t what really matters…we all have to start somewhere. It’s the middle and destination that will reflect the accomplishment!

What do you think will inspire a child more?

Telling that child of all the pitfalls and dificulties you experienced in your life’s story and all the things that child should learn from your mistakes

or

Telling that child of all the amazing things you were able to accomplish and experience?

As I ask that question I can literally picture that child’s face. As I picture the child, the first story has his face looking sad and not interested. With the second, you can nearly see the dreams stirring in the mind. That’s more powerful than anything. Inspiring a child to dream by sharing your own dreams will allow him to excell far beyond a child who is simply taught how to avoid your mistakes. A dream & vision provides opportunity and possibilities!

Whether you can picture that day or not, it will come. You will one day share your story with generations below you. Is it going to be a story that inspires or restricts?

Making a difference today creates a great story right now….but that story will continue to inspire and make a difference many years after it was created. That’s the beauty of it!

So what actions will you take today to make sure your story is exactly the way your heart wants it to be….not the way your brain tells you it should be?

Make It A Great Day

Setting yourself up for a Home Business.

July 9, 2009 by Simon Haggard

Feet On Desk Whilst working from home can certainly give you the opportunity to put your feet up on the desk and much more free time, you need to have your business processes set up first!

Here are some great steps to take!

STEP 1:
DETERMINE YOUR WHY!:-Whatever your reason for going out on your own, you must keep your “WHY” in the forefront of your mind. If you forget your “WHY” you have starting your own home business, your goals wont be achieved and you will not be working for yourself for long. It is far too easy to let circumstance drive your activities — and when circumstance is in the driver`s seat, you are more likely to crash and burn. DO WHAT YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT!

STEP 2:
FOCUS ON THE RESULTS YOU WANT! Remember — your own business is a lot like a real job. Some people go to work to play, some go to socialise, and others — most often those who are paid in a commission or tip environment — go to work to work and to make money. When you work for yourself, your salary is directly proportional to your productivity. Therefore, wouldn`t it make sense to stay focused on getting as much done in as short of a period as possible?

Go to work to work and to make money. Leave playtime and recreation for when your workday has ended.

STEP 3:
PLAN YOUR DAYS! When you are dealing with family in the course of your workday, it is important to schedule your activities as much as possible. With small children, you must take time when you must, but you should also work hard to make sure you dedicate a specific number of hours to your workday.

With older children, it is much easier to tell them that you will be working between the hours of x and y. Your children and your friends must understand that certain hours of your day are devoted to the activities of your business. Put your “WORKING HOURS” on the study/office door to remind not only yourself but family members as well.

STEP 4:
WORK YOUR PLAN -BE THE DRIVER OF YOUR DAY! Don`t permit your friends and extended family to run over you. Many people get the blind idea that if one works from home then they are not actually working.

Well-meaning people may try to fill your doorway to bring advice about getting a real job. Others may simply believe that if you are at home, then you are fair game for chitchat and socialisation.

You must stand firm. You must make certain your friends and family understands that when you are working, then you ARE working! If they wish to socialize with you, then they need to do it during the hours that are not dedicated to your home business.

You are the only one who can stand up for you. Your friends and family will seldom be able to appreciate your dedication to your home business, unless you make the effort to make sure that they have the same respect for your business that you do. LEARN TO SAY NO – or NOT RIGHT NOW I AM WORKING or WHEN I FINISH MY WORK DAY!!

STEP 5:
MANAGE “STUFF” You should allot a certain portion of your day to email and to regular mail. For example, allot one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon to handling your written communications.
If you have constant phone calls interrupting your day allocate some ‘quiet time’ – the use of message bank or an answering service, followed by set times to return calls can save you and your business!

Unless you dedicate certain times to the handling of these communications, you will soon find yourself on the downward slope of decreased productivity.

STEP 6:
DO WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT.When you find yourself spending too much time doing non-productive activities, then you should seriously consider
finding a third-party service provider who will assist you in those non-profitable business activities.

As an example, you might be spending hours struggling with bookkeeping. You might believe that your time is best spent speaking to your leads and setting up your advertising, but you find yourself spending far too much time taking care of your books to take care of your advertising in the manner that you should. In this event, it might make more sense to hire a bookkeeper to handle your financial records for you. WORKING SMARTER NOT HARDER

BOTTOM LINE:
In the end, the success of your home business is entirely and completely reliant upon you and the decisions that you make.

You had your reasons for deciding to start your own home based business. You must always keep your reasons in the forefront of your mind. You must always be able to rely upon your own self and your dedication to the success of your business.

Your friends and family might be annoyed that they cannot come visit upon their own whim, but when success comes to you and your business, they will better appreciate you for putting your foot down when necessary.

Success is within your reach, if only you can stay focused on your goals. You must decide to reach for your goals, and then, you must have the discipline necessary to reach them.

We Are In A CHANGING Economy

June 10, 2009 by Simon Haggard

It is interesting to observe all the doom and gloom talk that so many people are engaged in regarding the “global recession”.

I have recently read several excellent books that addressed the need for peoples thinking to change….the people that will survive are the people that are willing to change the way they think and become innovative and creative in terms of their futures and stop holding onto the past way of earning their livings.

I have personally observed this in my own business. Our sales are up approx. 60% over the same time period last year….at a time when everyone around us are complaining about the lack of jobs, or opportunity or money, etc., we have people prospering at a higher level than ever before.

Ask any successful business person, this is a time where fortunes are being made by the people that embrace this time of change and take control of their own futures, and stop buying into the media and the mass panic. You can be part of the problem, or part of the solution!

We welcome anyone that wants to be a part of the solution to contact us.

It’s safe to say that the current job market is in the pits !

April 18, 2009 by Simon Haggard

In the US, since the recession began in December 2007, 4.4 million jobs have been lost; more than half of that decline occurred between November 2008 and February 2009, according to the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Additionally, there are 12.5 million unemployed people and the unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in February 2009. Also in that month, employment declined in nearly all major industries.

The only industry to add jobs in February was health care, with a gain of 27,000 jobs. Job growth occurred in ambulatory health care and in hospitals, adding 16,000 and 7,000 jobs, respectively, according to the BLS.

While there doesn’t seem to be much certainty about the economy, there is one fact that remains true no matter what: Certain industries are recession-resistant.

“Some jobs are recession-proof because they provide goods or services that are essential to everyday life,” says Laurence Shatkin, Ph.D., author of “150 Best Recession-Proof Jobs.” “Other recession-proof jobs protect us from harm and make the justice system work.”

For example, Shatkin cites water and liquid waste treatment plant operators as a recession-proof job because “even in the most dire economic times, people need to drink, wash and flush.”

While nobody’s job is 100 percent secure, plenty of jobs and industries are somewhat resilient. For boosted job security, Shatkin suggests looking for work not only in a recession-resistant occupation, but also within a recession-resistant industry.

For instance, he says that people tend to forget that the education industry employs many people who aren’t teachers; health care employs workers who never come near a patient; and the high-tech industry employs many people who aren’t engineers or technicians.

If you’re looking for a new job OR possibly even a home business, focus your efforts on the following areas and you might increase your odds of landing a great position.

1. Registered nurse
Resistant reason: Nurses are always in demand, recession or not. People will continue to get sick and seek medical attention no matter what the state of the economy, which ought to give RNs sound job security.
Training needed: A bachelor’s or associate degree in nursing, plus completion of an approved nursing program. RNs must also complete a national licensing examination to obtain a nursing license. Further training or education qualifies nurses to work in specialty areas.
Growth through 2016: 23.5 percent
Salary: $46,242

2. Public relations specialist
Resistant reason: As advertising budgets are sliced and other marketing efforts are nixed to cut costs, many companies will rely solely on their public relations departments to promote the company brand. Additionally, as rumors spread about layoffs, bailouts and bankruptcy, PR specialists are needed more than ever to put out these fires along the way.
Training needed: A college degree in a communications-related field like journalism or advertising is helpful, though not necessary. If you lack a degree, employers will look for demonstrated communication skills.
Growth through 2016: 18 percent
Salary: $41,549

3. Teacher, post-secondary
Resistant reason: Since it’s becoming harder to score a job, people are riding out the recession by going back to school. Furthermore, workers and job seekers alike are earning higher education to increase their marketability in the work force.
Training needed: Training varies based on the subject you teach and where you teach it. Four-year colleges and universities, however, usually require candidates to hold a doctoral degree for full-time, tenure-track positions.
Growth through 2016: 23 percent
Salary: $46,991

4. Police officer
Resistant reason: First, police officers are employed by the government, which definitely doesn’t hurt job security. Second, the sad fact is that crime happens every day and the economy isn’t helping. Desperate times call for desperate measures, which for some people include stealing and other offenses — in some areas, police officers are busier than ever.
Training needed: Law enforcement agencies encourage applicants to take courses or training related to law enforcement subjects after high school. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, usually at least 20 years old, and must meet rigorous physical and personal qualifications.
Growth through 2016: 11 percent
Salary: $49,288

5. Insurance sales agent
Resistant reason: Though many Americans are on a tight budget, people are generally willing to spend money on the big stuff, such as coverage for natural disasters, health-care expenses and automobile accidents. With so many people losing their jobs — leaving them uninsured as a result — insurance sales agents have a larger client pool to work with.
Training needed: You have to have a state license to sell insurance; requirements vary by state, but generally require insurance-related course work and passing several exams. A college degree is not required, but is strongly encouraged.
Growth through 2016: 13 percent
Salary: $39,656

6. Pharmacy technician
Resistant reason: As the population ages, people probably will need more medication, as do th
e many people suffering from depression and anxiety as a result of the recession. Plus, many people have health-care coverage of some kind, even with the downturn, which makes it possible for people to continue to pay for medications.
Training needed: Most are trained on the job, but employers prefer applicants who have formal training, certification or previous experience.
Growth through 2016: 32 percent
Salary: $28,624

7. Funeral director
Resistant reason: Death is a fact of life. No matter what the economy does, people will continue to pass away and families will continue to grieve while seeking assistance to plan services for their loved ones.
Training needed: Every state requires that funeral directors are licensed. State licensing laws vary, but most require you to be 21 years old, have two years of formal education, serve a one-year apprenticeship and pass an examination.
Growth through 2016: 12 percent
Salary: $87,383

8. Environmental science technician
Resistant reason: The Obama administration plans to create 5 million “green” jobs over the next 10 years. Despite a slowing economy, a large percentage of the U.S. work force continues to dedicate itself to the environment.
Training needed: Most environmental science technicians need an associate degree or certificate in applied science or science-related technology. Technicians with a high school diploma and no college degree typically begin work under the direct supervision of an experienced technician and eventually earn a two-year degree in science technology.
Growth through 2016: 28 percent
Salary: $36,655

9. Network systems and data communications analyst
Resistant reason: Many technology-based positions can be performed by outsourcing, but certain technology workers, such as network systems and data communications analysts, must deal with problems onsite.
Training needed: An associate degree or certificate is sufficient, although more advanced positions might require a computer-related bachelor’s degree.
Growth through 2016: 53.4 percent
Salary: $40,827 and $71,637, respectively

10. Direct Sales Networking/ Personal Development Industry
Resistant reason: Fortunately, many individuals are wanting to improve the quality of their life either through Personal, Social and Financial Success. While so many other home based business companies saw a decrease in sales and income last year, the Personal Development Industry, for example, saw global sales increase almost 100 percent throughout 2008 to a staggering 19 billion up from 12 billion in 2007.
Training needed: No previous training is needed. Individuals of diverse backgrounds such as Lawyers, Doctors, Waitresses, Real Estate Agents, Plumbers, Engineers, Actors, Office Clerical etc. have proven prosperity in this lucrative industry is possible.
Growth through 2016: 700 + percent
Salary: avg $80,000 – $150,000

How To Find A Home Based Business !

April 15, 2009 by Simon Haggard

The search for a home business can be frustrating at times; as we all know, there are tons of home businesses out there. The question is which one is the right fit for you? And how do you find it? Well, I put together some simple steps for you to keep in mind while seeking your business opportunity. These are the same steps, the same principles we used when we were searching & researching a home business to assist in changing our lives. So here it is…

1- FEEL GOOD ABOUT THE BUSINESS: You should feel good about the company, product, and business. If you are simply chasing dollars, it will work against you. Love the business, love the product, be passionate about the difference and benefit you can bring to the table with your new business. Feel good about it!

2- DO PROPER DUE DILIGENCE: Now when I say “Due Diligence” I don’t mean go talk to people and get their opinions. That is not proper due diligence. Because, anytime you attempt to better yourself, or even think outside your box, you WILL have people knock down your idea. We’ll call them “Dream Stealers”. See, they would rather knock you down or hope you fail, so it justifies their lack of motivation, it justifies the fact that they have settled…The are other forms of opinions that will come across in a professional manner during your research. This is where you should be extremely careful! It will fool people quite a bit. There is one very simple way to identify it. We’ll call it “mud-slinging”… If someone is “Mud-Slinging”, ask the same question I asked…. Why? What is the motivation behind there comments? Always research the source… Usually it is because they have something else to sell you. Be very cautious around any product or business that promotes based on “mud-slinging”… If they have to tell you how bad everyone else is, they may not have to many good things to tell about themselves. Research and find information that does not have a reason to steer you in any way. Research your research.

Simply, find the business you like…Talk to other people in the business/company. Call the main office/corporate offices during business hours to confirm real people are in a real corporate office running a real business. Learn what is truly possible with that business. What kind of results are people having, and do you believe you can achieve YOUR goals in that particular business… This is how you determine if there is a fit. Trust your instincts, get fired up!

3- FIND YOUR MENTOR: Find someone that you can trust. A person who has created the very thing you are looking to create. This should be someone who is willing to listen to you and your goals and cares about your success. More importantly, you are willing to listen and learn from this person as well. Also very important, he/she must have a financial interest in your success.

4- MAKE SURE THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE WITHIN THE TEAM/ORGANIZATION WHO ARE HAVING SUCCESS WITH THE SAME BUSINESS MODEL: Ask to be introduced to some of the other people within the team or organization, in person or by telephone. This is where most will come up short, look for the trail of success!

5- MAKE SURE THE PRODUCTS BEING SOLD ARE LEGITIMATE STAND ALONE PRODUCTS: Make sure these products are something that would sell by itself, something that holds the value of the price tag. If not, you will have a hard time creating duplication in your business and will have a huge impact on you residual income. Besides, referring back to step one… You want to feel good and have confidence about what you are selling. There are a lot of legitimate businesses out there with legitimate products. Find the one that gets you fired up!

6- MAKE SURE THE TEAM/ORGANIZATION YOU ARE WORKING WITH HAS A TURNKEY MARKETING SYSTEM IN PLACE THAT ANYONE CAN DUPLICATE: A complete business, fool proof system that anyone can duplicate. If the company relies on recruiting family and friends, you might want to run! You should seek a reliable way to get quality prospects in front of what you are offering.

7- ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY: The last, but most important step of all… One of the main reasons people fail in home business is this reason right here… Self-Responsibility. They do not accept the responsibility; they think the “System” will create the success by itself. This is not true. Consider the business you find as a vehicle, a vehicle that can take you any place you would like to go. However, you must get in and drive yourself! Understand that you are going into business for yourself. Your results are completely up to you. Yes, find the business that fits you, and plug into the business model/system, but the work is up to you. Any legitimate business out there WILL tell you it takes effort. If someone tells you can have it all for nothing, then RUN LIKE THE WIND! It is completely up to you… Success is a choice, your choice.

I’m sure these 7 steps will assist you in your search for your home business. I will pass on one more piece of advice from a very good friend and mentor; we can call it bonus step 8! And it applies no matter what you choose to do in your life…

Always…

Believe in yourself, Believe in what you do,

Live your life like a champion!

SIX DAILY ACTIVITIES TO SUCCESS !

April 5, 2009 by Simon Haggard

While success is my right, so too are free will and choice. To enact success I have to consciously choose to work toward my goals. Because of free will, we all make many choices on a daily basis. I choose to be successful so therefore, every single day, I also chose activities focused toward meeting my goals.

Successful people all say that repetition and self belief are attributes they daily draw upon. How much obsessive compulsive disorder are you willing to put into your day? I begin my day with a little obsessiveness around my goal visualisation and going through all I am grateful for. Then, during the day I ensure I complete the following simple tasks.

These are my daily six activities toward success that take priority over everything else:

  1. What six income producing activities are you doing today? Placing ads, calling potential business partners, seeing clients, etc.
  2. Daily visualization and meditation around goals (short, medium and long term).
  3. Personal development: How did you spend 30 minutes on personal development today? What did you read/do?
  4. Masterminding with leaders. Which leaders in your field did you tap into/listen to on CD?
  5. Cultivating the expectation of leadership Treat every contact as though they are a leader. If they do not reciprocate leadership qualities, move on. BE DO HAVE
BE – Step up today. What sort of leader are you?
DO – What leadership activities did you do?
HAVE – What leadership do you have in your team?
  6. Gratitude What six things are you grateful for right now? What six things (opportunities) that are coming your way are you pre grateful for?
