“THE ART OF CREATING PROBLEMS THAT WEREN’T EVEN THERE” ~ Confessions of an Over-Thinker…Part 2!

February 27, 2014 by Simon Haggard

Firstly, thank you to everyone who commented on my above blog – how amazing is this community!! That’s not a question, that is a fact – you are all amazing humans.

That said, I continue where I left my above blog ‘To Blog or Not To Blog’ and my paralyses through my fear of failure via comparison to others. I have since learned by definition that ‘atychiphobia’ is the fear of failure, the fear of not being good enough. BAM!! I am in the dictionary. Debbie R made an interesting comment about perfectionism…I have taken that on board and I will not confirm nor deny that it may be so, though only around my work with people 😉 Just check my desk, there is nothing perfect going on there – then again, maybe don’t!

Now that the blog drought is broken…surfs up!! Well that’s perhaps a little ambitious though I am putting it out there 🙂 I find it interesting that once you pop you simply can not stop – ideas are streaming in left right and centre. I have notes everywhere and it drives Simon nuts. That said my ‘atychiphobia’ is still very real and by feedback it’s true for a great deal of us out there. The interesting thing about saying something out loud or in a blog is you find yourself ‘catching your thoughts’ and it’s what happens after you have caught your thought that makes the difference, and potentially where the magic happens.. So, if you have blogged for the first time on this platform, I challenge you to back it up…post again 🙂

One personal empowerment model I love is “Be Do Have”, I know it’s one model our company discuss a lot throughout training calls and our Success Education Program. It is a model I chat to our team about regularly, it is I feel one of the most vital models to really know and implement. So when I consider my ability to really over think my thoughts and fears I ask myself do any of the leadership team sit there not taking the action in their business they need to take because they are too busy comparing themselves to others…ummmm NO – they may feel the fear (they are human after all) yet they do it anyway!

My life has never been the same since I truly got BE DO HAVE. In order for me to move forward and overcome this fear, I really have to identify who it is I am looking to be in my business. Years ago I actually shifted 30kg’s of weight using this model, I say this to not impress you though to impress upon you that it is not just all energy in energy out – mindset is a massive contributor.

So what’s next…

1. Find someone already ‘BEing it (ie someone to model)’ – add this person to my ‘board of directors’

2. DO what this person does – take the same action they take

3. Recognise my wins – acknowledge myself for being less perfect and less comparable

4. HAVE the results I see for my future self.

Where has BE DO HAVE worked for you and where could you implement it?

Kara 🙂

Healthy Skepticism

April 26, 2011 by Simon Haggard

We know how much hype is out there on the Internet about making money. And we know that the idea of earning a multiple 6 figure income in the next 12 – 18 months probably “sounds too good to be true” to some people.

But, think about this: If you’re always going to shy away from things that sound GREAT then you’re basically going to always stay stuck where you are.

This information will survive healthy skepticism. Just make sure you’re not letting past baggage keep you from moving forward.

Is It Real? Is It True?

Network Marketing – Is It Real? Is It For You?

The truth about Network Marketing… If you are reading this it may be because you have been introduced to Network Marketing.
You are probably doing your own research as to if you should Join Network Marketing or not.

If you are reading this it may be because you have been introduced to Network Marketing. You are probably doing your own research as to if you should Join Network Marketing or not.

You may have seen on the Internet comments that vary from “Network Marketing Is a Scam” to others that bring out the fact that “Network Marketing Is Actually An Incredible Opportunity.”
So who should you listen to?

Well, first of all I believe you should listen to your common sense, but please give me the permission to explore this with you…
Let me lay it all out for you here, because I don’t have any attachment no matter what you choose to do (remember how over 90% that claim that ‘Network Marketing is not a REAL business’ come from people who offer you another solution … their business opportunity… hmmm, do you think they may have a financial interest by putting down a industry or company so that they can hopefully get you to sign up with their company instead?… (hmm, something to think about I guess)

Let me share with you what Dr. Steve Price, an extremely successful author, speaker and business owner has to say about these whiners. Here we go:

“Why Whiners Rule The Web?
Negative blogs and complaint sites dominate cyberspace. Why? Because world wide web empowers a few mean-spirited… misinformed… and misguided malcontents to spread negativity about legitimate companies and reputable people.
They call themselves crusaders. But I call them “World Wide Whiners” because they’re really just crybabies! They’re not really attacking flawed companies and individuals, like they say on their sites.
What they’re really attacking is success!
Other people in the same industries as Whiners are successful. Other people in the same industries as Whiners are accomplishing their goals. Other people in the same industries as Whiners are living their dreams.
But Whiners aren’t.
So, rather than taking responsibility for their failures, they blame others and use the Internet to broadcast their complaints into the world. Look around and you’ll see a pattern among the World Wide Whiners:
Winners are positive.
Whiners are negative.
Winners make money.
Whiners make excuses.
Winners take responsibility.
Whiners take advantage.
Winners build up.
Whiners tear down.
Winners attack problems.
Whiners attack winners.
Whiners thrive on the Internet because they know that someone, somewhere, will listen and take their whining to heart.
Just don’t let this be you! “

Focusing and Acting on Your Dream ~ by Les Brown

October 5, 2010 by Simon Haggard

I was reading some recent articles and stories and came across this one and really wanted to share this as it resonates with me in achieving greater results in life.
Enjoy the read…….

Whatever dream you decide to go after, whether it is a family, or a career goal, you must consciously decide that it is your life’s mission. Benjamin Disraeli said, “The secret of success is constancy to purpose.” You must go at it obsessively and set high standards for yourself along the way. There is no room for compromise when you are charting a course for your life or your career.

I spoke to a group of sharp young people not long ago, and when I finished, some of the fellows came up and said they were interested in becoming professional speakers. They invited me to go out with them that evening to have a good time. These fellows looked as though they knew how to have a serious good time.

I had planned to work on my delivery that night by listening to the audio of my speech. I record my speeches and listen to them later so I can study what works and what does not work with a particular audience. In effect, I listen to the audience listening to me.

I was tempted to go with these fellows, and back when I was their age I probably would have given in to that temptation and gone. But I have become more disciplined and more committed to my craft. A friend of mine, Wes Smith, wrote a humor book called Welcome to the Real World, and in it he offered advice to fresh high-school and college graduates. He had a line in the book that pertains to the situation I faced that night. It said, “Having a drink with the boys after work every night is a bad idea. Notice that the boss doesn’t do it. That is why he is the boss, and they are still the boys.”

Wes told me that he wrote that line with one particular group of hard-partying young businessmen in mind, and five years after the book came out, he ran into one of them. The guy volunteered that he’d read that line in Wes’s book and decided never to go drinking after work again. It paid off, he said. He had risen to a vice-presidency at a savings and loan.

In my drive to become a public speaker, I developed that kind of focus, too. There is not a lot of time for hard partying if you are pursuing greatness. It was not that these young fellows weren’t serious about their interest in professional speaking, but they were just as serious about having a good time. I don’t believe they were focused on their goals. They were seeking a profession, but they were not on a mission to make a dramatic difference in the world. I am. You should be too.

Rather than the party crowd, I prefer to seek out people with knowledge that might be useful. I like to find out what books successful and intelligent people are reading. I want access to the information that contributes to their success and intelligence
